Learn Catalan with cartoons: A1 starter course
Lince now has a Catalan (català) A1 starter course: eight short cartoon lessons from official Catalan sources, with the same word help, quizzes and review as the Spanish course.
What the starter course includes
The course has eight playable lessons. Each one is built around a short scene from an official Catalan source, Mic from the SX3 channel or Misha, and plays through the official YouTube embed. Every line has a translation and word glosses in all seven interface languages: English, Russian, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian and Simplified Chinese.
The lessons cover everyday A1 situations:
- Greeting someone and asking what is inside
- Saying what you like and thanking someone
- Asking a price, buying and counting a payment
- Saying you are afraid and locating a sound
- Naming means of transport
Watch, understand, then make it yours
Catalan lessons follow the same Lince flow as Spanish ones. Watch the scene for its situation, tap words and replay the key line until it makes sense, then rebuild the phrase from memory. Quizzes and review bring the line back later, so it stays with you after the cartoon ends.
Where the objectives come from
Lince organises its curriculum by communicative functions, grammar and vocabulary, a structure inspired by the Instituto Cervantes Plan curricular (PCIC). PCIC describes Spanish, so the Catalan objectives come from a Catalan reference: the ARA A1 programme of the Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística (CPNL).
The explanations and exercises are Lince’s own. The course is not certified by Instituto Cervantes or CPNL.
How to start
Open Lince on Android and choose Catalan during onboarding, or later under Settings → Learning → Language. Your Spanish level and your Catalan progress are kept separately, so you can switch between courses without losing your place.
Honest limits
This is an A1 starter set, not complete A1 coverage. The eight scenes practise selected A1 objectives, and the course does not go beyond A1. Think of it as a friendly way in, not a replacement for a full course or a teacher.
Spanish from Spain remains Lince’s main course, from A1 to B1. A Basque (euskara) A1 starter course is also available; Galician and Valencian are planned for later. Questions or corrections: [email protected].
